Between Agent Söze, the treacherous Internal Affairs tyrant who’s taken over my precinct, and the super illegal sorcery my partner Lienna was hiding in said precinct—which is now missing—my usual routine of busting magical criminals has fallen apart in favor of hectic damage control.
But that went out the window too when a respected Guild Master was found dead. Agent Söze is trying to cover it up, which is all the reason I need to make solving the murder my top priority.
Except now Agent Söze is trying to arrest and/or kill me. Not entirely unexpected, but both dangerous and highly irritating.
With the clock ticking on the next mysterious Guild Master murder, Lienna and I have to find a way to prove Agent Söze is behind it all. We need rock-solid evidence to bring him down, which is kind of tricky when crooked agents, shady allies, and cutthroat assassins keep complicating matters.
In the Guild Codex Warped. The overall story arc is connected and like most urban fantasy, I would read them in order. It is also connect with the overall Guild Codex Universe. With Stolen Sorcery & Other Misadventures, we are now past the end of Spellbound, Demonized and Unveiled series. I found this reading order on the author’s website.
The action takes off from the start and really never lets up. Kit and Lienna are targeted Agent Soze, as are Captain Blythe and Darius King. Blythe, again, takes them outside the department because she believes the MPD has a leak and has been compromised. Plus Soze has kicked them out of the MPD.
Kit and Lienna are trying to figure out how the assassins are killing heads of guilds. They are certain Soze is involved. They do figure it out and start trying to collect evidence while also fending off assassination attempts. They even end up working with the mole since they can’t access the MPD files anymore themselves!
We also see a change in their relationship as they team up and fight together. Not only do they work together better, but they also confess more feelings. Kit shares about his past in a foster home. Lienna shares about the current situation with her father.
I was happy to see Darius King and almost think I would like him to get a Spellbound series! He is in the background here mostly. Robin and Zylas help with information and with one of the fights with assassins. Zylas is pretty hilarious. We also get Aaron and Kai in on a battle. It looks like the universe has another bad group and this series will have more than 4 books with Mage Assassins & Other Misfits coming up next. I can’t wait.
Narration:
I’ve enjoyed having a different narrator for this series, which seems right for Kit. Both male and female characters have distinct voices which are comfortable. I was able to listen at my normal 1.5x speed.

This sounds exciting! Thanks for sharing😁
The Guild Codex books set in Vancouver are just so fun.
This sounds like it would be a good series.
It is. I love them. I plan to do a Read-along for it in a few years, but I’ve just read them all pretty recently.
I suspect I’ll like these when I get around to her books. Sounds like lots of interconnected sub-series following different characters in the same world and I like when that happens.
They’re amazing really. I plan to do a Read-along but in a couple years since I’ve just read them.
Oh… Another great sounding UF series! Where is the time?!
You’d love this. It’s almost cozy. I will definitely do a Read-along a few years out though, since I’ve just read them.
This sounds great and sounds like it has plenty of action and mystery.
I love all these Annette Marie books in the Guild Codex. So fun and really great characters.
I read an Annette Marie a while back. Nice to hear she’s writing more to love!
I’ve really enjoyed her books. They are just so fun.
Thanks for sharing the reading order for the books in these connected series. I’ve been wanting to read more from Annette Marie ever since enjoying her Red Winter series.
Sure. I try to share the series or reading order if it is complex and also if I think they should be read in order. You could read some of the series (in order) but they are interconnected and reading them all is much more fun. And they are very fun.
