The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.
Sunday, this is a warm couple of days. I did my usual visiting and then wrote a couple of reviews. I updated my March totals and the links for COYER and Library Love. I did a menu plan for this week. My daughter and I took a walk with Lulu and it felt almost hot. I did my daughter’s taxes. But then the printer needed another cartridge in the only color we don’t have and it wouldn’t print black only either. So I had to order one for tomorrow. I made a scallop dish with snow peas, rosemary and garlic chives from the garden. I also got to try out my new ceramic fry pan.
Monday, first of April so lots of new month tasks. I did as much of the computer stuff as I could. When my Lowe’s pickup was ready, I went to Harris Teeter for RX pickup, then to Lowes for compost and garden soil, and last to Aldi’s for some veggies. It was so hot when I got home though I opted for an early dinner, then my daughter and I walked Lulu at dusk. I watered because everything seemed a bit dry.
Tuesday, I was slow this morning. I took Lulu and Abby for a walk but Abby stepped on something and then was limping. So we didn’t go very far. Then I got the compost and garden soil all hauled to where I needed it and planted the basil, pepper, some marigolds and a tomato. I also pulled weeds and cut off dead plant shoots. I was still pretty hot by the time I finished. My new Dyson (V8) arrived and I put it together and gave it a try.
Wednesday, a bit rainy and I felt tired. Abby still didn’t want to go far but in our raincoats Lulu and I did the normal walk. It didn’t rain but we were ready if it did. I did an Amazon return and we both went to the chiro. I cleaned out the Dyson and did another cleanup. I like it so far. I napped before dinner which I never do. We watched Betty (Will Trent). My daughter is still having a really difficult time.
Thursday, clear and cool. It was 50F/ 10C after being 85F/30C for a few days at the beginning of the week. Abby, Lulu and I wore our jackets and had a nice walk. Abby seemed better. We even got to see Max. I made calls for gastro and neurology appointments in the next two weeks for my daughter. I did some email cleanup. I’m happy to have a day at home. Finally my daughter is feeling just a bit better. She was able to catch up on her homework. I was able to do my taxes.
Friday, I did the usual things. I did go pickup an RX for my daughter. I worked on the menu plan. I was feeling ambitious so we are going to try some new recipes tomorrow. My daughter and I walked Lulu. I covered the basil and tomatoes since it will get to 30s tonight.
Saturday, still a north wind and cool. Lulu and I did a pickup at Walmart for things we needed for the new recipes. Later, we did a longer walk to see the swans. Many things are blooming. I’m sharing friends’ reviews to BlueSky and Mastodon manually. FS Poster is working except not for Threads.
March Reading: I had another good reading month. I managed to read 27 books. Audiobooks continue to help me read more. Some count for more than one challenge. I listened to 16 audiobooks, read 5 library books, 15 COYER reads, and 5 books which I already own.
All Library books (including ones not reviewed on the blog) 2024 Library Love Challenge
I did manage to read 5 books I own (goal is 3 per month):
- Pemberley by Maria Grace
- 🎧 Gallant by VE Schwab
- 🎧 Junkyard Druid by MD Massey
- Deadlines & Dryads by Rebecca Chastain
- Texas Secrets by Jean Brashear
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
Thanks so much to Tantor Audio (2).
(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
NONE.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

It sounds like you had a very busy week. I love gardening, especially planting my flowers and tomatoes. Have a wonderful week, Anne!
Thank you Jody. I love gardening too and now we are getting to have the fresh produce.
I hope your daughter continues to feel better! The Junkyard Druid series sounds interesting!!
Thanks Erin. I hope the med changes will help her feel better more consistently.
The scallops look delicious! I’m glad March was such a good reading month. Hopefully April will be too. Enjoy your warm weather😁
Thank you Tammy. We shouldn’t have much more cold weather. The north wind still feels cold so I look forward to a south wind. That will change in a month or two when it is so hot I long for a north wind to cool off.
Glad your daughter is beginning to feel better – I hope her recovery continues. And I go on being boggled at the temperature swings your long-suffering plants have to endure! I’ve just nicked across and got the boxed set of the first 4 books The Junkyard Druid series having seen it here:)). Have a great week, Anne:).
Thank you Sarah. I hate how hard it is for my daughter to have any average days. Something always hurts. The temperature swings were huge this week. I’d be happy to just stay more in the middle. I will be curious to see what you think of Junkyard Druid. I liked the mythology but the character was kind of swaggery. First book though and things don’t always settle in right away in a series.
Aww, Lulu looks blissed out💜
Glad to see you’re able to continue the National Park series. Counting that as the one that got away from me. Have a great week!
Thanks! Lulu is all snuggled up with all the toys. She even sleeps on top of them which we think can’t be comfortable but it seems good to her.
I love hearing about your garden progress. I planted some seeds indoors this week (basil, parsley, and chives. Last week we got a ton of rain. I’m hopping tomorrow is sunny in the afternoon so we can see the eclipse here. I hope your daughter continues to feel better. Hammered is a good book. I hope you enjoy it!
Thank you Victoria. We love having garden eats. The cool type crops are flourishing. There’s broccoli, chard, snow peas, and two types of lettuce to eat. The herbs (other than basil) are available year round. I planted spinach later and it hasn’t always done well so we will see.
We had the 80 degree weather last Sunday, but then it got chilly again this week. Sorry your daughter is still struggling. That’s got to be so hard! Lulu looks tired after the walks, lol. Ooh, Nevermore Bookstore is a freebie, I’ll have to go get that one! Hope you have a good week!
Thank you Lisa. The weather swings were epic last week. I was VERY excited to see Nevermore Bookstore as a freebie!
It snowed here Thursday and Friday, but thankfully it all melted. The temps will be high enough to plant my tomato and a bunch of other veggies I have growing in our laundry room. I’m excited!
Sorry to hear your daughter is not feeling well. Poor Abby! I just grabbed up Nevermore Bookstore for free. Thanks! I just finished WTZ and will be working on my review this week as well. Did you read/listen to it yet?
I’m finished with winter. It never gets that cold here anyway. I love the fact I can have a garden really all through the winter. I read the WTZ the first 3 days of the month. I really loved it.
Hot weather makes me extra tired, too. You got a lot of stuff done even with the heat. I need to go pick up some mulch soon. Trust your daughter’s gastro appointments will help pinpoint the trouble and glad she had a good day. Your scallops meal sounds tasty. Fun that you found more on the Tantor list from your Nat’l Parks series.
Have a good week, Anne!
Right now I swear everything makes me tired. I have too many things I use which I like which will be hard to replace as they get old and fail. Sometimes it is a chance to upgrade the technology. Other times I think if I could still buy the original it would be the best thing.
I need to get to Lowe’s. The guy behind me is doing a ton of landscaping and is shaming to get started lol. Sounds like it’s warming up there. We’re supposed to hit near 70 tomorrow…
Those National PArk mysteries look fun
Thanks Greg. The weather is warm enough here that really I have year round gardening to do. The weeds and grass don’t grow as much in the winter though. My southern grass won’t really grow until May and in the meantime I get weeds. Last week’s weather was all over 30-90, but this week will be more consistent with highs around 70s
Scallops and snow peas sounds really good. I love both so I would definitely eat this.
Thank you. It’s one of our summer regulars, especially with fresh snow peas from the garden.
We got a few snow flakes this week! It was 75 degrees on Tuesday, then the storms came in the evening and it got COLD overnight. But, we are back into the 70’s again. Have a great week!
Thanks Samantha. I hope for a more even week of temperatures now. It’s that odd time of year when we might have the air conditioning on upstairs and the heat downstairs.
It sounds like you had a good reading month, Anne. I am glad you are enjoying the White Trash Zombies. The covers for those books are a hoot. I love the spring photos. I keep forgetting to get a photo of the trees in my front year. The blooms will be gone by the time I do at this rate! I hope you have a wonderful week and enjoy your reading!
Thank you Wendy. I love the spring blossoms and the start of eating produce from our garden. It goes by so quickly.
Another busy week for you. That’s great you got to do gardening. I haven’t done any this year, but that’s because we’re moving and now that we have moved in I’m hoping to get too it, but first all the unpacking has to happen. Have a great week and happy reading!
Thanks Angela. I think it’s early for gardening in most places. We just don’t get cold enough to kill the cool veggies so we are lucky to have more of a year round garden. It’s so exciting about your new place!
We’re happy to be in our new place. Most of the reno is done except for basement bathroom and outside items. I got most of the unpacking done this weekend and now there’s so much trash. ^_^ Have a great week!
Such gorgeous pictures of your garden! And that scallop dish looks so good! I love the idea of menu planning but I almost never stick to it. I hope yours worked out well for you! Have a wonderful week ahead!
Thank you. It’s a great time of the year for the garden here. It can be hard to menu plan. My general method is to make new things most nights and eat leftovers for lunches. Sometimes if we make a big pot of soup, we will have it another night also. I kind of need to plan because my daughter has enough diet restrictions that I have to plan to have the things needed on hand. And if I don’t plan, we may eat protein and starch but not enough veggies. It’s easier with fresh in the garden now though.
How are you liking the new ceramic pans? I am slowly shifting over to ceramic as I replace pans. I’m a fan. Looks like you had a couple cooler days/nights. It’s been quite warm here the past several days. I really enjoyed Forbidden Hearts (one of your freebies).
I am liking the ceramic pans! I just ordered another saute pan since we really need to have 2. The first one I bought at Target for about $30 and it is regular Teflon; the new one will be ceramic. I think it was really best to buy some $30 pans rather than a whole $500 set this time. I can get the pieces I want as I need them. Last week was wild swings in temperatures. I’m looking forward to more consistent 70s this week.
Wow, you did great in March with your reading. I’m just waiting for my printer to use up its last ink ’cause I have plans to get a new one. It is unbelievable how expensive the ink is. And I love your garden pictures. Our snow is melting pretty fast right now, not sure how long until things start to get green.
Thank you. I don’t want to get a new printer I love my old one. But yes the ink is pricey and so are the new printers which have the capabilities of my old one.
Oh yikes…that’s what I was supposed to do after work tonight. My taxes. Damn.
Those scallops look good!!!!!
Thanks Jinjer. We have a lot of favorite dishes which are seafood.
Sorry to hear your daughter is still struggling with her health. Last week was really busy for me, and we had a snow storm! Of course the schools FINALLY had a snow day this year and my poor daughter didn’t get to enjoy it because she had a procedure at 7:00AM. Oh well. We ended the week with an overnight trip to VT for my daughter’s 18th birthday.
I think every week is busy now. I hope your daughter gets some answers. My daughter complains she never had a snow day in 13 years in Minnesota. Even when we go 2-3 feet of snow. And only one day when the temperature didn’t get above -10 for the high, even though that went on for 2 months straight and it was -25 when they had to be out for the bus in the morning.
I’ve never cooked scallops before!
Well we’ve watched like 20 seasons of Hell’s Kitchen so I’ve got it figured out! lol
Sounds like a busy week! I hate printer issues and am not a big fan of getting taxes done for that matter! I hope you’re having a great week and happy reading!
Thanks Katherine. It’s always something. But I am a handler of problems.
