The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.
Sunday, I worked away at my pile of emails and blog hopping. I also managed to do a little packing and got my daughter doing some packing. I also printed out some stuff to try to figure out my COYER plan.
Monday, I finally got out in the yard to sweep the walkway/driveway, pull weeds, pick up sticks and pine cones. I took out all the garbage and recycle in the house to the bins. Then a good portion of the garbage cans got filled with bleach / water. I also managed to accidentally spray myself when I set down the sprayer and it didn’t shut off. So I was soaked by the time I finished. But all the garbage cans look and smell great.
Monday was also my daughter’s 23rd birthday but she was having a headache. I made her favorite salmon for dinner with green beans, and lemon cheesecake. I had gotten her some gorgeous cloth containers to store her jewelry and some board games.
I’m fully into sort/pack / throw / donate mode. I have to make a plan of what I will pack every day. I’m only using 2 drawers in my dresser as I packed all but a few undies, socks, PJs, swimsuit, and leggings. I’m thinking I won’t pack my hanging clothes, just take them over in the car on a clean blanket and then hang them up in the new closet. The same with some food stuffs. I’ll just take over sacks or open top boxes of stuff and start putting it in the new cabinets once I have the cabinets all scrubbed. We are already playing let’s eat what is already in the freezer and pantry.
Wednesday, we went to the dentist – no cavities for either of us. We finally made it to quilting after a month of not making it. It felt good to get back to work on quilts. Thursday, I had a mammogram and my daughter had a medical appointment. Friday, we signed up for her fall classes: the next level of Spanish and a Health/ Wellness class. I was able to get going early to the farmer’s market and grocery store before the rain hit.
I won the Read A Series in A Month challenge gift card! I enjoyed the first COYER Twitter party. I read 6 books the first week and I think I have it sort of figured out maybe. I have lots of scheduled things in June but July is very, very lightly scheduled and I will be reading things I purchased or from the library I’ve wanted to read when I’m not busy moving. I already have A LOT of ARCs for August and September though.
It looks like I finished my Goodreads Challenge for the year – I may have to up that number.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week: (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
WOW. Thank you so much Penguin Random Audio, Tantor Audio, AceRoc / DAW/ Berkley Publishing, St Martin’s Press, Inkslinger PR, Elizabeth Hunter. How to Wake an Undead City and Thornbound are audiobooks but the covers aren’t available anywhere I looked yet.
(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I got False Step as my Prime First Read. I was excited to get 3 great audios for one credit that are narrated by Andi Arndt and Sebastian York. I also got the third in a series from Nora Roberts on pre-order.
Next I clicked on my two Audible Originals which come with the membership.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.
If you like this and want to see me do the Sunday post, as often as I can manage, leave me a comment and let me know.

Your move planning is so organised! My move last year was a shambles, lol.
Glad to hear you back to quilting.
I missed the COYER kick off twitter party but I finally joined the FB group so I’ll hopefully remember the next one!
Have a great week Anne!
Well it’s organized right now when there is time. Once it gets down to the end it will be a shambles of grabbing things and shoving them into any box. I’m trying to avoid that. It is easier moving in town rather than across the country. I’ve been packing my physical books this week, in boxes by genre. The books I have are mostly ones I have signed or from childhood. I have a batch of Nancy Drews and Black Stallion series.
I hope you will as the COYER people are all so much fun!
I bought the new Hailey Edwards there too and I really enjoyed the Jeffe Kennedy one.
Wow you’ve already read the Kennedy one? I just got it and it’s for September so I won’t read it until I finish my June ARCs.
I couldn’t even imagine trying to pack up and move. It sounds like you have a wonderful plan in place and things should go smoothly for you. We are working on eating what we already have in our house as well. It is good to do that from time to time but especially before a move. Glad you both checked out good at the dentist and made it to quilting. Enjoy all of your new books and have a great week!
Thank you! I hope I’m organized. I want to be. The eating what we have is mostly good. I’m trying to clean out the freezer mostly. Some stuff I’m going to throw seeing how old it is. Why did I buy that stuff – well it was before the GF and better eating. Really even the GF stuff that is processed is just not as good as what I make from scratch. Which shouldn’t be surprising. I hope you are having a great week after all the activity you’ve had.
Part of me would love going through everything to downsize a bit, but I would also hate it. I joke that when I move that I’ll just burn the house down and buy all new stuff. Glad you’re getting a lot done.
Melanie @ Hot Listens & Books of My Heart
I NEED to get more done. I still will be moving stuff and then getting rid of it. Even with the extra time I have. I hate that but it’s also not knowing if I will need certain things.
When I moved I didn’t pack any of the hanging clothes. Just laid them on a blanket in our van and hung them back up in the new place. So much easier. lol And since we weren’t moving far I left clothes in drawers, took the drawers out, put in van, and moved them to the new place. Good luck with the move. I hope the rain stops before you have to do the big stuff.
Me too! I could have done the drawers your way, maybe should have. But I am doing the clothes that way too. I was thinking about the rain. Since I have attached garage at both places I can just drive the car from one to the other without getting out in the rain. Not so for the big pieces in a truck though. It doesn’t seem to rain all day here very often though even when it’s a rainy period. Thank you for visiting.
I got a few ARC’s for later this month and next month. I’ve already read a couple of them and have been loving the books that I’ve been reading lately. I love writing those reviews because you want people to love those books too. I just cleaned our house trash cans too. I used Mr Clean though. I love the smell of those new ones with the febreze in them.
Well I am careful about all reviews. I struggle with the very best ones because how do I do justice to describe how amazing it is? And I even if I didn’t like one it could easily be a personal preference and even if it is something objective like poor grammar or spelling, I’m not going to criticize an author. I will say what I think is positive and constructively say what bothered me. I am lucky to have access to so many of the very best books. Even some of my freebies are great but reading the others keep me grounded because some are, well not good. I love the results of cleaning even if I don’t always enjoy the process.
Nice that the packing is coming along so well. And congrats on willing the gift card! What fun! I’ve been meaning to try something by Marie Force for ages but just haven’t yet. Till There Was You looks good, though.
Till There Was You is part of the Green Mountain / Butler series and I would start at the beginning because OCD but also because I am still in love with Will from the first book and I read all the new books for the brief mentions of him. Sigh. No all the books are good, but I’m not kidding about Will. I also love her Fatal series which is romantic suspense but has the same couple through the whole series.
It looks like you kept busy this past week…good for you!! I hope you love Molly Harper’s new book, I can’t wait to grab it up. I am just loving this series so much, probably my favorite of her books actually.
I love Molly Harper but I haven’t read the first 2 in the series so it will be awhile before I get to it. Sadly. I’m glad to hear it is good. Every week is a busy week.
I should bleach my trash bins too! Thats a good idea. We even have a pressure washer that would be great for this. Happy birthday to your daughter! Sorry she wasn’t feeling great that day though.
Yes a pressure washer would be awesome. I might have to get one being a home owner again. There are many things I would like to have so we will see. Thank you! I think she is finally doing better. She was doing a better job than me at packing today which is great because I was worried I would have to do her stuff. I need her to make decisions about her stuff, what to keep or throw so we don’t move things we will never use.
Moving is an excellent opportunity to clean out everything. I need to do a purge at my house soon.
I picked up a copy of Molly Harper’s Even Tree Nymphs Get the Blues, too. Hope we both love it. 🙂
Yes it is. I am so grateful to have 2 months to do it. It is great but sometimes so hard to decide.
I hope we both enjoy it also.
You’ve been busy, and it looks like, with all of your new reads, you will be staying busy! I’m looking forward to your thoughts on THE GRACE PERIOD.
Thank you! I got so many great things and thank goodness they are over several months or I would go insane trying to read them all right away. Although I do have an overload of things I want to read NOW. I just love all my books.
Thanks so much for visiting.
Congratulations on your win!
Gone Too Long sounds like it could be a confronting story.
Have a great reading week
It’s classified as a mystery/thriller but it feels more like historical fiction or family drama so far. It is horrifying what some people will do.
The Twitter party was fun and I was glad I was able to “attend.” I’m really having fun this time around and I’ve met some great people through COYER. Sounds like you have a solid plan for packing and I hope it all goes smoothly. Tell your daughter happy belated birthday!
Thank you! Th COYER folks are awesome. I HOPE I have a good plan. I just keep working things.
Happy Birthday to your daughter. And it sounds like you have the moving thing all planned out. The only time I’ve enjoyed moving is when there was no rush. Then I could move things and put them in place at my leisure instead of dumping it all in and then having to sort it out. LOL
Thank you! I hope this is a bit at my leisure since I have a month overlap. We will see
I am so impressed with your organisation and productivity this last week – and I hope that eventually your poor daughter was finally able to take part in her birthday celebrations without the rotten migraine:(. Glad that you managed to make the quilting again – it’s always nice to be able to take part after a break. I hope the coming week is a good one, Anne:)
Thank you. I keep finding more to do. But I don’t mind being busy really. I just want to do it right and dislike if I don’t have enough time.
Sounds like you had an excellent week getting things done and your daughter’s birthday! I totally get your eat what’s in the cabinets play its tough but necessary. ❤️ And soooo many great books!
That’s my dad’s training – he was always like what is in the fridge / freezer etc. Both my parents grew up during the depression and were all about using what you have and not wasting things. Yes I got the very best books this week!!
Sounds like you had a really productive week. Congrats on winning the gift card!
Thank you! I do my best.
Congrats on winning the gift card! I always enjoyed COYER. 🙂
Thank you! You can still enjoy COYER – it’s happening now.
I prefer your moving style, but I couldn’t do that this time. My illness left my adult kids in charge. It is working itself out, though. Today my granddaughter came over to help go through the boxes on my end…and the shredding!
Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
I like being able to go through things before I move so I can get rid of things and not move them. I don’t have much help unless I hire it.
I’m going to be going through that moving stuff soon. I’m not looking forward to it, but it has to be done and in the long run, it will be a good thing
Your books look really good. I hope you have a great week!
I did get some amazing books.
I’ve been procrastinating but finally we are moving, I’m working at going through my stuff probably too slowly.
I hope your daughter is feeling better, Anne! The Grace Year sounds so good- all of these do! I look forward to your thoughts!
Thank you! I know – so many great books. I have to work on moving and not reading right now. Although I can listen to audiobooks while I pack.
Wow you were really busy last week! Glad you got your outside and inside work all done. I love to purge it makes me feel soo good! LOL! I also have The Grave Year on my TBR, it sounds really good!! Have a great week!
~Kendra @ Kendra Loves Books
Last week was just the start. Each week until the end of July will be more sorting / throwing / packing etc. But it’s a great feeling to do it.
Sounds like a good week! Yea for your win, too!
Well pretty good. Exercise is falling by the wayside if you don’t count the hauling things around. I think I’ll get plenty of that this next month. Thank you!
Sorry your daughter had a headache and wasn’t able to enjoy her birthday. I’m sure that was disappointing!
Yes, some days are just like that. She is doing some things that give me hope.
Wow.. sounds like you’ve had a very busy week. Isn’t packing and sorting crazy? We had to pack everything up in a very short time, so I didn’t get to sort as much as I would have liked. But hopefully I can still do that a little when we’ll move into our new place.
Congrats on your daughters birthday! 😉
Have a great week and happy reading!
Thank you! I really would like to do more throwing now rather than after we move. But we will see how it goes.
Moving is such a hard work Anne! I hope you won’t be too tired with all these chores!
Tired is a way of life but it is exciting too. I love the organizing part and making things work better. We just have to be patient because I can’t work on everything or every room at the same time. We are lucky to have an entire month to move though.

It sound like you’ve gotten a ton of cleaning done! I love the feeling you get when everything’s clean and organized. I did a lot of yardwork this week, too. I have to do it really early in the morning before it gets too hot outside.
I received The Grace Year for review as well! It sounds really interesting! I hope we both enjoy it.
Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear? ?
Cleaning is now my life, and organizing and gathering up stuff we don’t use to donate. It’s good and easier to do now with a purpose. This past week the weather has been good but the HOT is coming.
