Hunting for the bad guys has never been so dangerous . . .
My name is Rory Forseti, and I attend the Colorado branch of Mythos Academy, a school of warrior kids, powerful artifacts, and mythological monsters.
I'm a student, a fierce Spartan warrior, and a member of Team Midgard, a group of kids and adults tasked with stopping the evil Reapers of Chaos. There is one Reaper I'm determined to hunt down above all others: Covington, the man who murdered my parents.
So when the Midgard gets a tip that Covington is going to try to steal a dangerous artifact, I'm ready to fight. But the situation is far more complicated than it seems, and the Reapers aren't my only enemies.
I'll have to use all my Spartan strength and skills to survive this. And even then, it might be my blood that gets spilled . .
I was happy to continue with the Mythos Academy Colorado series, which follows (and is a spoiler for) the related Mythos Academy series. I like Rory and her strength of spirit. She is brave without being totally stupid. She is willing to risk herself for others.
The team has talented people and cool tech gadgets but they just always seem to be a day late and a dollar short. I guess it would be a short story if they won the first battle, though. The bad guys only care about themselves, and not even their team. Our good guys worry about collateral damage to humans and other students. The bad guys don’t even stop to help or protect the other Reapers.
Rory is getting more information on other artifacts. Unfortunately, even though she loves everything she learns and myth-history is her favorite class, neither she nor the Midgard get enough information fast enough. Luckily, between her parents gifts, her own skill and her gifts as a champion, Rory manages to stay alive even if she is often in bad shape after a battle. I still kind of wish the Midgard seemed more competent. I hate the feeling the Reapers are getting anything and they have gotten a few artifacts.
I really, really feel for Ian with his brother on the wrong side of things. It’s bad enough for Rory that her parents were Reapers and the kids putting some blame on her. I am happy to see they can have some compassion and get along better now They will do better working together also.
I really enjoy the mythology with the various gods and goddesses. The creatures always delight me too The mystery about the gods and goddesses, and the battles are favorite aspects for me. It’s also fun to see the students learning and developing their magic and skills. I’m looking forward to Spartan Destiny expected in January 2020. The blurb sounds like what happened here in Spartan Promise. This series has the prettiest covers.
Narration:
I enjoyed Amanda Dolan on the previous book and am completely settled with her as Rory in my head She handles the male and female voices suitably and I’m able to listen at my usual 1.5x speed.

I’ve seen this series and thought it sounded good. Nice that she’s a fairly smart heroine and I do like the interplay between characters mixed with the action moments you describe.
Don’t forget the mythical creatures as they are awesome too. It is YA but I like it pretty well.
I enjoyed the first book and I think I should try this one too
yes, this continues the story and gives more information plus development of the action and relationships within the team.
every time i see jennifer’s name i think to myself, i have got to read some of her work. thanks for the reminder
You’re welcome. I have really enjoyed all the series of hers I have read.
I enjoy stories that incorporate mythology, too, Anne, and this sounds like such a unique one. Lovely review.
Thank you I have been enjoying this series
I have read part of the Mythos Academy series but need to go back and finish. This sounds like a great series as well.
I am enjoying this one more than the original and I love the covers Not that the covers matter to the story
These sound fun. I am glad you are having fun listening.
I can’t always do YA but this one has enough aspects of mythology and battles I enjoy.
