Stacking The Shelves is also a weekly meme hosted by Marlene from Reading Reality. It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Sunday, the dirt hauling continued even without hot water. As it seemed to be cooling off in the later afternoon before rain, I took Lulu for a very short walk. Of course, it started raining while we were out but not too hard. Two new daylily varieties bloomed. I planted impatiens in the planters on the front porch. I also took the braided rug out and hung it over the fence to scrub it over the next few days.
Monday, I had calls to make. But it turned out Modern Plumbing didn’t open until 8:30 so I was reading and at 8:32 they called me! By 9 am, they were here and had relit the pilot light and everything was working. We had looked at those instructions online but there are 2 critical steps left out which we now know. So we have hot water again! I called contractors to set up appts for roof estimates. I got the first bid for replacing the broken window glass.
Tuesday, I got the first roofing bid and a lead on another glass repair guy. It was supposed to rain, but instead it’s cloudy and a bit cooler so not a bad day for yard work. I continue to enjoy the Psy-Changeling series and am going a bit overboard on ARC requests considering my calendar is pretty full. At least I’m not behind right now. A second glass repair guy came out to do an estimate in the afternoon. I did a lot of chores. I scrubbed the rug again. I took photos to post on the Buy Nothing group on Facebook for our area. I found a box with all our tablecloths and cloth napkins so I am unpacking and washing them. I have a place for them so getting rid of that box is great.
Wednesday we had another roofing contractor do a quote. The front of the house has definitely had the roof replaced and is not original. We also found another neighbor boy for the yard project. Last night rain was forecast, but this morning it is back to 15% chance again. The cloudy is good and keeps it from being too hot for yard work. Another daylily bloomed which was supposed to be pink but it’s dark red. I think someone switched tags at the garden center. Lulu and I walked again and this time made it all the way over to the pool.
Thursday, the kitchen designer shared all the plans and samples of the counters and cabinets we might like. I managed to walk Lulu before it rained. It was another day where it was supposed to rain but it held off until 2pm. I went out to get Rx from Walgreens and a few things at Aldi. We planned to go out to dinner but my daughter didn’t feel well enough. So I made chicken pot pie and chocolate cupcakes.
Friday, I woke very early 5:30am. I had a Walmart pickup at 10am, but I stopped first at Lowes to check out some flooring and cabinets. I made a trip to Harris Teeter then for a few items out of stock at Walmart. I had two new daylilies bloom. I made a new batch of food for Lulu. For dinner, I used more snow peas from the garden in a stir-fry. It rained quite a bit at night.
Saturday was the same pattern where it was supposed to rain but it doesn’t. It’s somewhat cloudy and cooler. As usual, I had so much I want to do. I’m doing more cooking and walking Lulu every day now. I’m also handling more projects. This next week looks to be not as rainy which will be good for projects, and also some cooler days with a north wind. I hope that forecast is accurate. I’ll have to wrangle the contractors who have been here to send me their bids, too. I need to mow. Wednesday, we get the skids of sod.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
Thanks so much to Berkley, Ace, Berkley, Simon & Schuster Audio, Brilliance Audio, Harper Audio and Harlequin Audio.

None.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.
Anne
You’ve had a busy week! Your daylilies are gorgeous. Where did you find the different varieties? I’ve only been able to find one color, but our also finally bloomed this week. Hope you have a great week Anne! Happy Reading 🙂
Thank you Lillian. I have had good luck ordering some plants online. For years I got great hybrids at Borboleta Gardens in MN but they are gone. I ordered my current ones from Smokey Gardens and Stout Gardens. They are all lovely but the Smokey Garden ones don’t all quite match up to the descriptions, as much as the Stout Gardens ones do. I looked specifically for rebloomers though. It used to be there were only 2 rebloomers – Stella d’Oro and Happy Returns, now there are many in various colors.
Thank you for sharing all those beautiful flower pictures with us. It is a pleasure to look at them. Wishing you a great new week and good luck with your audiobook month.
Thank you Vi! Audiobooks are great for listening when doing yardwork or other chores.
very beautiful flowers. Wishing you a great and a full month of audiobooks sounds like my kind of month. You may like Samantha Irby’s audiobooks. they are funny!
Thank you! I’ll have to check out her work; I like funny.
Wow, you’ve got a lot of projects happening. I hope you like The Final Girl Support Group. I really want to read that one.
I like to have lots of projects even if I can’t do them. I mean I enjoy the planning so that when I can do them I have my plan. I’m a little worried about Final Girls Support Group because I don’t really read horror but it sounded so good I gave in because it’s got some mystery too.
I love the flowers!! And good luck with all the home projects-that is a lot going on!
And you mentioning Walgreens reminded me I have a prescription to pick up!
Thank you Samantha. I like daylilies because they are beautiful and easy. I was able to get rebloomers now so that is exciting. I love planning so that when I’m ready for the project I have my plan.
Ha, our weather has been playing games with the weather forecasters, too. I never know if I need to go out and water or if we get the predicted showers that are plenty of water for the plants if it comes. Your day lillies look lovely even the wrong-colered red one. 🙂 I have the dark orange ones. Looks like your renovation plans are coming along nicely. Hope your daughter feels better now and so great of you to whip up something delicious for her.
I go in spurts of taking too many ARCs, but looks like you picked some good ones to enjoy.
Have a great week, Anne!
OK I maybe maligned the red one. I checked my garden plan with photos of the ones I bought. It is supposed to be red which isn’t like me. I like pink. But there aren’t supposed to be any which are yellow – only white, tan, pink, rose lavender and the dark purple. But there are definitely yellow ones. And they are pretty.
Thank you Sophia. The weather forecasts have been near useless. It’s supposed to be 80s this week with not much rain. Which I hope is right.
I got all those ARCs and now I’m listening to a KU audio and reading a library book. Then I’ll be panicking about my ARCs which aren’t read. Gah
Your flowers are beautiful! And I’m glad you were able to get your water heater fixed. I hope you can get your glass fixed soon, too, and the roof.
I missed that Song of Flight was available to request. Maybe I can still request it.
Have a great week!
Thank you. A Song of Flight is not until Sept so you should be able to request it yet. If it isn’t one of those stupid wish for it books. I hate those. The publisher sent me a widget and I’m getting more requests with widgets lately which is weird.
The projects go in spurts. Last fall it was all about getting the perennials planted. This spring it was the garden. Now it is the lawn and starting house stuff. It’s a process.
Sounds like a productive week. That’s always a good feeling. The kitchen remodel sounds exciting… so many decisions to make, though. I miss Harris Teeter. We no longer have those here.
I always like HT. But they weren’t on Instacart so I haven’t gone again until recently. I’ve come to appreciate Food Lion as they have a lot more gluten free stuff than I realized. I loved Cub Foods but that was only in the Midwest. Now I shop mostly at Aldi but sometimes Food Lion or Walmart or Sprouts or Whole Foods or others depending on what we need. I love Trader Joes but I hadn’t been there over the last couple years with COVID either until recently.
Yes I am on the project train. I don’t that I can do everything right away but I am getting it figured out.
Your flowers look gorgeous?
Nice book haul! I see a few I added myself. I really wish I could have the Carol Wyer book but I missed out on the first one.
Have a wonderful week!
Thank you Jonetta. I went a little wild on the ARCs. The first Carol Wyer is in KU if you have it or can do a free trial.
Beautiful flowers! I am glad you have hot water again. It sounds like you had a busy week.
I am looking forward to reading The Final Girl Support Group. Grady Hendrix comes up with such great ideas for stories. I am glad you are continuing to enjoy the Psy-Changeling series.
I am having a lazy day today, trying to find the energy to get some stuff down around the house that needs to be done. What I really want to do is take a nap. LOL I hope you have a great week.
Thank you Wendy! I’m not having the most active day. I need to get out and mow the lawn, at least the part not covered with new topsoil for the sod. I’m glad to have hot water, actually I’m glad for any project or task that gets completed and I can move on to something else.
Glad your hot water heater is working again! I’ve had to boil pots of water for baths when ours went out a while back. No fun. We’re also doing a lot of home renovations. Not cheap. I hate it when you buy a flower and it’s different from what you wanted.
The Final Girls Support Group was a wild ride. Enjoy!
We just took cold showers or washups but luckily it didn’t last too long. I’m getting information and quotes on various things but probably can’t do everything right now.
So I was wrong about that one flower, it was supposed to be red. I looked at my garden plan and diagram today. But there are other ones which are yellow and I didn’t buy any yellow ones. I bought white, tan, pink, red, lavender and dark purple. But they are all lovely and I do have a nice variation. I did get sent one as an extra to the ones I ordered and it is red also. What I cared about is that they are rebloomers.
I’m a little worried about the horror aspect as I don’t read much horror but it also sounded like a mystery I had to read.
I love all of your flowers, so pretty. Sounds like you are doing all sorts of work on your home. I hope we get to see pictures of the new kitchen!
I’m so glad I planted flowers last fall. I don’t know when I will be able to do the kitchen. The lead time after ordering is at least 15 weeks. So the earliest if I order soon will be October or November and then takes at least 3 weeks to install. I hope I get to do it.
That’s some nice flowers! You had many intriguing books! Curious to read your reviews! Have a great week and happy reading!
Thank you! I’m enjoying the flowers.
What a gorgeous flowers. And your new books look great. 😀
I’m glad your hot water is working again.
Have a great week and happy reading.
Thank you Maureen. I’m really enjoying the flowers. I am excited about my new reads.
Your flowers look great. I have those third day lilies (with yellow just in the center) and pink ones, but ours won’t bloom for another 3-4 weeks. Right now the rhododendrons are dying off. Hope you all have a great week ahead.
Thank you Jen. I’m really enjoying them. I was glad to have planted last fall.
Your flowers are so gorgeous! I’m still waiting for most of my daylilies to bloom so I’m really enjoying seeing yours while I’m waiting. 🙂
Thank you Suzanne. I love the growing season here.
I do love Meghan Quinn! The series the free book you got is from was my first of her books that I read. Sounds like fun getting to re-do some things in your house. I’m hoping to maybe have some money in July to do that, but I’ll be paying credit cards off first, so we’ll see what’s left after that. We haven’t had too much rain here. About once a week if even that often. Just lots of hot days. Hope you’re having a good week!
Any projects take a lot of planning before anything happens but I’m working through the information. It’s fun but sometimes tiring. I have to check all the details on everything.
