The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday, I hoped for it to cool down a bit with a north wind.  But it’s only a little.  It was COYER book club and we were doing diversity reads.   I did my blog visiting. I got a text confirming the window install tomorrow. I took down pictures on the wall to prep, and the blinds. When I was taking down one of the blinds, a golf ball hit the window and startled me.  It was a little hard to get them off.

Monday,  the window installers arrived promptly at 8am.  Well they are going to make a big mess. They seem nice though.  Apparently they don’t take the old ones for recycle like Habitat for Humanity so I can throw away the screens too, I guess. Lulu didn’t really like all the noise so we went for a medium walk and saw the swans early before it got too hot.   We spent most of the day in the office, which isn’t getting new windows. When I came to the kitchen though, I was busy killing flies. UGH. ok  only 3 flies total.  I setup some posts and wrote a review.  The installers did do a really good job of cleaning up their mess so that was great. We were all tired and went to bed kind of early.

Tuesday,  another really nice day with north winds and lower temps.  I had a nice walk with the dogs. My daughter is still having issues. Over the weekend, she felt like her wrist was sprained when she woke up so we taped it.  The tape irritated her skin.  We remembered that I had a wrist brace at one point in Minnesota.  I couldn’t find it yesterday but today I found it, almost right away.  My daughter mentioned already how much she likes the new windows in her room.  I finally put together a menu plan for the rest of the week. After dinner, I hung the blinds in my daughter’s room and cleaned them.

Wednesday, yet another nice day with low humidity and north winds. I figured out where the sleeping bag was we had been searching.  My daughter even walked with me and the dogs.  The sales guy from the windows stopped by to see them.  My daughter is still having problems with her wrist so we are headed to the chiro. Then I picked up a couple items at Aldi.

Thursday,  cloudy and coolish.  We walked the dogs comfortably and I will miss Abbey and Kayla as they are on vacation the next 2 weeks.  I ran over to Harris Teeter to pick up my daughter’s RX.

Friday,  I slept well.  My daughter was up early for her.  It is a cloudy day with some rain.  I seem to be like molasses, so slow to do things.  But the reality is I am not slow, I am doing too many things, so I am scattered or distracted by one thing and then another. I did get my review written and do some important planning. I took Lulu on a walk to try to see the swans.  It was hotter, more humid than I expected. My neighbor posted a photo of them today.  Those babies are getting big.

Saturday,  I’m in the mood to read, not sleep, but I’m a bit tired.  I’ve been buzzing with plans and ideas.  I have things I need to get finished though. Well, I tackled a few things so I feel better.  I worked on a new meme concept.  Before dinner, I cleaned and hung 3 more blind segments. But I had to untangle all the cords, somehow they were a big mess.

How do I do it?

Does anyone have any tips for shopping for a new mattress?  I feel like I don’t know the terminology to be able to research and get what we want.

If you have any tips for me, please comment.

July Reading:  I had another good reading month.  I managed to read 25 books. Audiobooks continue to help me read more. Some count for more than one challenge.  I listened to 14 audiobooks, read 8  library books,  25 COYER reads,   and   1 book which I already own.

All Library books (including ones not reviewed on the blog)  2023 Library Love Challenge

I did manage to read 1 book I own (goal is 3 per month):

  •  🎧 Hunted by Kevin Hearne

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by  Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Thanks so much to Tordotcom,  Tantor Audio,

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

I got these in an Audible 2-1 credit sale.

I got this one for $5 at Chirp.  I’m collecting the old versions of Miss Marple which aren’t available on Audible anymore.      Next I picked my Prime First Read.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. Sweet Lulu💜

One thing I’ve learned about mattresses…you need to test them out. It makes a big difference. Do your research on best brands online, then the type of mattresses you feel suitable and then go to a showroom. They encourage you to lay down on them so do it.

    Good luck!

  2. Ugh mattress shopping! I hate it. Honestly, you need to try them out. The only downside is the foam ones get hot, but you don’t lay on them long enough to feel it when you are just testing it out. So, if you can get one with a 30 day trial or something, its better (regardless of the type of mattress you get). Memory foam is all the rage, but its not for everyone. We have a Purple mattress right now and its pretty good.

  3. I am so glad that the window installation wasn’t too bad and that you are liking the new windows. I always feel like I am not getting anything done but the problem is usually that I am trying to do too much. Nice new reads this week! Have a great week, Anne!

  4. I found mattress shopping stressful. The most important thing for me was to figure out what level of firmness suited me and hubby. I found this guide to be really helpful https://www.choice.com.au/home-and-living/bedroom/mattresses/buying-guides/mattresses

I hope this week brings a little more focus for you.

Wishing you a great reading week

  5. We’ve been using sleep number beds for a long time, and when we recently tried something else we went right back to the Sleep Number. It’s the only way my husband can find something firm enough for him. He needs a very firm mattress. And then I can adjust my side.

  6. What a hoot! We didn’t get new windows yet (that is a soon-need), but we did replace a few of the older blinds after the last time I took them down to clean, I noticed how bent and broke some were. I love these new cordless blinds we picked out. Hope you enjoy your new windows and clean blinds, too.
Our temps weren’t as oppressive this week, but the humidity stayed high so I felt like the temps were up there, too. Always refreshing right after the showers though. The swan family really have been growing up.
Hope your daughter’s wrist feels better.
Way to go finishing off 25 books this month considering how busy you’ve been.

    Have a good week, Anne!

  7. Oh you did have a really good reading month.
It’s been really hot here most days so I have to get up before the sun comes up to take Falcor out and then just take him in the shaded courtyard during the day and then wait for the sun to go down to do another walk. I’m glad to hear the window installation went smoothly.

  8. A golf ball! Yikes. Love the swans. Such beautiful creatures. I got chased by one, I inadvertently got too close. they can be fast! Luckily that was when I was younger and faster ha. Sounds like a busy week. Hope the weather stays mild. Keep those north winds coming. 🙂

  9. Mattresses and pillows are both so hard to buy I think! I might think I like a pillow when I try it in the store, but then I’ll get it home and it doesn’t seem like it works for me. I had to go try out mattresses to find a new one. I’ll tell you this, I got the adjustable bed thing to put under my mattress this time, and it was so worth it. If you don’t have that already, it is worth every penny! When I’m a little congested with a cold, I can raise it so I’m slightly sitting up and it’s perfect. Glad the new windows are working out well! And where did the golf ball come from? That’s crazy! Have a great week!

  10. The swans are getting big! Happy to hear your window guys cleaned up after themselves. You never know with construction people. New windows make such a big impact! Nice that you got some rain. It hasn’t rained for a while here. The wind helps with the higher temps, so that’s nice. Hope you enjoy the rest of your Sunday, Anne!

  11. I am glad you found the brace and could help your daughter Anne! That must have been painful for her!

  12. It’s about time for us to mattress shop and I am not looking forward to it. No advice but wishing you luck! That’s great that the window installers showed up promptly and cleaned up the mess. Definitely a positive review. I hope your daughter’s wrist is better and you’re having a great week!

  13. ” I’ve been buzzing with plans and ideas.” I feel this statement, a lot! I often have a hard time settling down because of it, and I too get distracted and torn in all directions.

I hope your daughter is feeling better!

The swans are beautiful. What a gorgeous sight on your walks. 🙂

  14. Sounds like a good week! I’m glad the installers did a nice job for you. And yea for some cooler days.

I was on vacation with my family for the first week of the month. (Glad I was able to get back for our book discussion) It was a lovely time and we had great weather. All the cousins got to hang out and play on the lake. I’ve spent the past few days catching up with laundry, groceries, etc. Now I need to start switching gears to get ready for back to school.
