The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar. Hunted Giveaway ends tonight!

Sunday, well it’s hot and sticky again. This past week I stopped sharing as much to Twitter. I did my Sunday blog visiting.  We had a good turnout and chat about Hunted for the Read-along.  I wrote 3 reviews.  I’m reading a non-fiction book which is a bit unusual.  Heather Cox Richardson who posts on Facebook, also has a Substack,  and is a history professor at Boston College.  She has been a lifeline for me in these crazy political times as she shares the day’s news and the historical connections for the past 5 years or so. I read her Facebook post every single day.   I’m reading How the South Won the Civil War.  I have the ebook from the library and have bought the audio which she narrates herself.

Monday,  today is a heat advisory but it doesn’t feel as bad as yesterday. Yet.  I ended up listening to the end of an audio, then doing my normal computer stuff.  I have a pickup order at Walmart.  I was really into both the audiobooks I listened to today.

Tuesday, it’s supposed to be much less humid today but feels about the same to me.  I should think about mowing the lawn though.  My daughter is having more trouble so we are headed to the doctor this afternoon. The doctor made various suggestions and prescribed some ear drops.  When we got home, the neighborhood electrician / plumber stopped in to look at the garbage disposal because it was making noise.  He found there was stuff in it, nail bits perhaps from the window install.  He fished out the stuff in about 10 minutes.  So that’s solved and I don’t need a new garbage disposal.  After dinner, it was just cool enough we took Lulu for a medium walk and the sunset was lovely. My neighbor took the second photo with the swans in it.

Wednesday, it’s a bit less humid again but still seems hot.  Facebook is being weird and not showing comments on posts on the laptop but it works on my phone. I did some reading and visiting.  I took my daughter to the chiro and did a return at Lowes and got a couple items at Dollar Tree.  After dinner, we walked Lulu again.

Thursday,  I am doing the usual blog visiting and email cleanup. Today  the Amazon order arrived with the valance clips so I could finish hanging the blinds.  My daughter and I worked on cleaning and hanging all the rest of the blinds, and valances. As a treat, I got takeout from Alpaca Chicken.  It’s rotisseries chicken with sides like salads, hand cut fries, yuca fries, black beans, rice, maduros, and tostones. (You pick 2 sides).

Friday, it’s the last day for the wind from the north and the humidity a bit lower.  I went out and mowed, trimming and edging the whole yard.  I did computer work until dinner.  Then Lulu and I went for a medium walk, no sight of the swans.   I went to bed and got a good night’s sleep.

Saturday, I did the usual computer things.  Then I did a major cleaning of the first floor floors, even inside the closets.  It took hours and now the house smells a bit like disinfectant but I’m so glad to have it clean. I just have the master bedroom carpet, then the stairs and the upstairs to do, which are all carpet. This weekend is hot 95+F/ 35+C and it doesn’t look like we get a break in the heat until Wednesday.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by  Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Many thanks to Ace,  Subterranean Press (there will be a less expensive Kindle version also),   Thomas & Mercer,

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

I bought the audio version on sale at Audible.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. That chicken sounds good. Beautiful pics. It’s been milder here- we were 78 today and breezy, not very humid, which is unusual for us in August. I wish I could send some of this cooler weather to places thatare sweltering.

Glad the disposal wasn’t bad. Hope your weekend is going well ::

  2. Oo that restaurant sounds really good! And the weather here is not as hot but it is still pretty gross. I don’t like going outside, it’s just too humid. Wyatt gets overheated really quickly as well so we have been inside a lot more this summer. I’ve been using the time to catch up on household things as well.

I am glad that your garbage disposal issue was so easily taken care of! Win!

  3. Glad you made it through your high heat and humidity days and got some relief. Nice that the disposal was an easy fix and didn’t need replacing and yay for getting up the rest of your window treatments and having snazzy clean floors. You knocked out so many tasks this week. Looks like you got a really good bookhaul, too.

    Have a good week, Anne!

  4. Another productive week on your end. We had a horrible storm Monday which triggered my storm anxiety which I can usually keep under control. But the rest of the week was quiet, just hot. It did cool down Thursday though and Apollo got 3 walks which made him a happy puppy. I’m convinced Kelley Armstrong is a writing machine! Hope your daughter feels better.

  5. The heat left us a bit this week! Tuesday the high was only 78! Now, the humidity was close to 100% so it didn’t feel great, but still. This weekend its been close to 90 though. It was nice while it lasted.

  6. I deleted both my personal and blog twitters when it became “X”… It was the last straw of nonsense for me.

With heat like you guys get, I really shouldn’t complain about humidity but it’s so annoying over here too! It’s wet but warm enough that everything just sticks to you and your hair just wants to frizz and it’s hard to move or get to sleep, lol. I’m not a summer person so it’s no surprise that this all bugs me… Roll on autumn! I’m 100% counting down!

Hope you have a good week, Anne!

  7. The heat hasn’t been as bad for us but we’re about to get a couple of days (Tue & Wed) of 98 degree weather. Of course the humidity is a lot lower here so it could be worse. Only one more month of summer! Those sunsets look gorgeous! It’s so nice to get intense cleaning done. It feels so good. I haven’t read the 2nd Rip Through Time book but I’m interested in that novella. Stay cook, Anne! 🙂

  8. I’m so tired of the summer humidity here. We’re having a rainy day, so it’s cooled down a bit today though. The chicken sounds good! I do need a new garbage disposal and am wanting to replace my sink and faucet, so had some people I used to teach with give me some handyman recommendations. Now I just have to make myself call them! Have a good week! Hope your daughter gets to doing better.

  9. Did you know your About page is blank?

1 had been successfully avoiding almost all political news for months, but now the algorithm has caught up with me on TikTok and I’m starting to get new stations in my For You feed. Darn it!! LOL If there’s a way to block in TikTok, I haven’t figured it out yet.

Glad you didn’t need a new disposal.

Could you and your daughter please come help me clean all my windows and hang all my curtains now that you’re old hands at it? lol

Alpaca Chicken!!! What a cute name! I had to Google to see if they have an alpaca in their logo and they do.

  10. I follow Heather Cox Richardson on Facebook too. I find her take on the country’s events really informative. I am glad you didn’t need a new garbage disposal after all. My husband tried to replace ours a couple years or so ago and ended up calling a professional because he was having so much trouble with it. We really did need a new one though. I meant to get some major housecleaning done today but it didn’t happen. Hopefully I can get a little bit done each day this coming week. I hope you have a great week, Anne! Enjoy your books!

  11. Hooray for the downstairs deep clean. That had to feel good to have it done. The Alpaca Chicken place sounds delish. I love rotisserie chicken. Those sunset photos are simply stunning!

  12. It’s been hot here but it’s the humidity that’s really killing me right now! Hopefully we both start having better weather soon. I hope the eardrops helped your daughter and you are enjoying your week!

  13. Those photos are beautiful! I hope your daughter finds some relief from her doctors.

I’ve basically cut ties with the former bird site. I have removed links and the ability to share from my own blog. I’ve removed the app from my phone (but didn’t delete my account). I only share other posts to Mastodon (and hopefully soon Threads will be an option). It’s sad in so many ways, and I know there are some who are still hanging out there, but I just can’t for my own mental health and emotional well being.

Oh, I forgot to mention this last week, but when looking for a mattress – I found the best way is to just go to a shop and try lots of different styles. Also, we have a store here that has some sort of machine that can help you figure out the best mattress based on your body and how you sleep. I’ve never tried it, but may next time we need a new one.
