Sean Quinn returned to Cambio Springs to help his shifter clan find their way out of trouble, but before he can hit the road again, a new threat emerges on the border of his hometown. A threat that could leave Sean stuck in Cambio Springs when he's most desperate to escape.
And one unsuspecting human might be stuck right there with him.
Ever since Juniper Hawkins came to Cambio Springs to visit her big brother, strange things keep happening. Not the least was running into the man who'd almost made her change her wandering ways. Juni wasn't the kind of woman who settled down, even when the object of her affection was a tall, dark, and handsome photographer who kissed her senseless then abandoned her in Southeast Asia.
The Cambio Springs series is my favorite of all the wonderful Elizabeth Hunter series. It is a paranormal romance with each book featuring the romance of a new couple. There are a few things in the “government” of the town and some enemies which are sort of an overall story arc.
Dust Born is the final book in the series and long awaited by fans. I just purchased all the previous books on audio but didn’t get to reread them before reading, sadly. I’ll do a reread all together at some point as I just love them so much.
There was a focus on the Quinn family but also lots of interaction with all the groups in town. Partly because Juni is the sister of Caleb. Partly because of the overall story arc of the attacking enemies and where did these shifters come from?
Sean was torn between staying in Cambio Springs to support his crazy family as he felt he should or traveling to continue his exceptional career as a travel photographer. He doesn’t feel he’s good enough for Juni. He has some personal growth in accepting things about his family and community and himself.
Juni doesn’t know about Cambio Springs and all its secrets, even spending the summer here to see her nephews and niece. But when things hit the fan, she jumps right into to save Sean and her brother. The reason things got so bad is sad. I enjoyed a satisfying conclusion where they were good to each other.

The title made me curious. Glad you enjoyed this one so much.
Thank you Sherry. This author always does great work with her characters.
Mhmmm. I am intrigued. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book by this author.
She’s self published and one of my favorite indie authors. She writes in a few genres and you can pick one in a genre you like and not go wrong.
Okay… here is another author I want to read – let me know when (down the road) you plan to re-read and maybe I can buddy read with you!
yes! It’s one of my favorite series and PNR romances with HEA I think you would like it. They are at some of my libraries even.
I think this one would be a good one for me. I’ll have to look into this author since I haven’t read her before.
She is one of my favorite authors and writes several genres, so plenty of choice.
Another of her series I need to get busy and read. Wow, your fav of them all. 🙂
yes this series really gives me the feels.
ooh sounds good and since it’s the last in the series I won’t have to wait 🙂
It’s a short series with lots of feels PNR with HEA and humor.
This sounds like a great series, Anne💜 Glad this final book met expectations.
Thank you. yes I love this series.
This is another author that I really want to read. This sounds like a really well done book.
Thank you. It’s a great series and not a long series. PNR and HEA,
I really want to read this author soon. Would like 3-book series be a good fit for the remainder of next year? After the zombie series we’re doing? That one is 6 books, right?
I really enjoy this author and recommend any of her series. She writes a bunch of genres. This just happens to be my favorite. yes I am planning a 6 book RA for the start of 2024. My current plan is to follow that with Harry Dresden which will take 18 months. That’s why I am worried about long series.
Sounds like the schedule works if with finishing half way through the year and then starting Dresden. Yeah, it might be hard to keep a full group for 18 months.
oh I know I will have to settle for a small dedicated group like we have now. But that makes the discussions excellent. That’s the point with these series I’ve already read. And to encourage friends who’ve always wanted to read the series to join us.
I like the author and haven’t read this series. I didn’t realize it was shifters.
yes it is also in KU if you have it.
I have to check this series out!
It’s a real favorite of mine. But everything by this author is excellent.
I think I would enjoy this series!
I hpe you get a chance to try them Wendy.
I’m glad to hear that the series finale is such a satisfying read.
yes I still love the series and it ended in a reasonable and satisfying way.
Curious to see how you feel when you get a re-read done 😉
It will be interesting because the first time was ebooks and I bought audio versions for the reread.
The cover for this just grabs me! I am starting to read more paranormal romance, so might have to go back to the start of the series and give it a try. Great review!
Thank you Lisa. It’s one of my favorite PNR. The mystery and romance somehow seem better and with more humor than some series.
