Sunday was another beautiful day with the wind from the north. My daughter was still up when I got up and didn’t go to bed until 3pm! She was reading. lol I visited blogs, put away and washed more china. I wrote a review and finalized a post. Lulu and I walked the long route by the swans. The flowers are blooming! Every day there are new varieties of daylilies blooming. My daughter got up for dinner and then went back to bed. I saw a post on the neighborhood facebook page about the swans. The babies should be out by now but apparently the eggs are gone and they think a predator got them! I’m so sad.
Monday, I slept well. Another nice day but by late afternoon the wind shifts to the south. I’m participating in a series of posts for June is Audiobook Month and the promos are posting on my Facebook page weekdays at 12 noon. I finally got the last of the china washed and put away. I went to walk Lulu at 2 but I forgot my earbuds! So we walked the longest hilliest route in the neighborhood. Afterward, I went to Harris Teeter to pick up RX for me and my daughter and a few grocery items. I was listening to my audio and it was so slow I fell asleep, only for a moment, and I realized I had it at 1x instead of 1.5x speed!
Tuesday, started with a call from the HVAC contractor. He came over and checked over the old HVAC in the attic to give me a quote on a new one. He says it is old but working fine. I worked on various emails, visiting, and writing a review. My daughter had an afternoon OBGYN checkup. I did more work on some blog posts. After dinner, we walked Lulu to the park and back.
Wednesday, the daylilies are going wild blooming. For being near 90F, the weather isn’t unpleasant unless you are in the direct sun too long. I did the usual blog visiting, handling emails,. I placed a curbside pickup order for BJs since we will be next door tomorrow for doctor checkups. My daughter had a doc appt today and I went nearby to do our latest Amazon returns. Then I made a quick stop at Food Lion since they had our favorite ice cream on sale. It rained as we were on the way home, but stopped by the time we got there. So then I took Lulu for a short walk. After dinner we played some Skip Bo and then started a 750 piece puzzle.
Thursday, we had doctor checkups. Then I did a BJs curbside pickup. Afterward I was so tired, really unlike me. But I got it together. I uploaded review audios to my iphone, wrote a couple reviews. I have been wanting to get started on the banners and stuff for Read-along 2023, so I started just a little.
Friday, I did not sleep well. Lulu and I went to Wegmans for a curbside pickup. I did the usual things and then remembered my daughter had an RX at Harris Teeter so I ran over there. Then I took Lulu on the long route we like. It’s a nice day about 80.
Saturday, I slept late and then I read through 2 rounds of DEAR (Drop Everything and Read). It was the last nice day for awhile so I should have done more but I was in a reading mood. It’s going to be very hot around 100F / 38C for the next 5 days. Then I think we are in the 90s through August.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
Thanks so much to Harper Audio, Karen Grey and Elizabeth Hunter.

I used some Audible promo credits for delayed delivery to buy the next ones in this series for $5 and $6, but I only paid 97¢.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.
Anne
A busy week! I love the flower pictures. Our weather has been warm but between sunshine, clouds and rain! A good book haul there too.
Have a great week next week.

Thank you Emily. I think a little watering will be in order this week with the heat. I’ll be glad to stay in reading.
The day lilies are beautiful. That is a huge book haul! Happy reading!
Thank you Bonnie. I love having perennials which require almost no work now that I have them in place. It is a big haul but I do love to read!
Ear buds are a definite must for me for long walks. I’m glad you were able to get out. I plan to do a lot of swimming this summer.
Thanks! I think swimming sounds great but I’m wary. Right now a lot of people in the neighborhood have covid. At least the pool is outdoors, maybe if we go at a less busy time.
DEAR reminds me of DARE, a program to keep kids off drugs(completely different I know) Glad you were able to get out with your lovely dog.
I like the concept of DEAR but I am already reading all I can fit into the schedule.
Your day lilies are beautiful, Anne. I’m really sorry to hear about the swan eggs, that’s so sad! Sounds like you’ve been getting lots of reading in this week😁
Thank you Tammy. I enjoy the perennials so much. Every day I have to see what is blooming. I think some watering will be needed this week. I didn’t mow the lawn and maybe should have because I may be mowing in the dark for it to be cool enough later! But I also didn’t want to cut it short with the big heat coming this week. I am so sad about the swans; I was excited to see the cygnets.
Your flowers are so pretty! It makes me sad about my neglected garden. I work so many hours during the summer that it’s hard to have energy for gardening. I miss having pretty plants, though. Have a great week!
Perennials! They are no work once planted. Especially the not fussy ones like daylilies. I do water them a bit, especially until they were established.
I always enjoy seeing Lulu in your Sunday posts! She’s adorable. And your flowers are just so pretty.
Thanks Wendy! Obviously we love Lulu. She goes on the rounds in the morning to check on what’s blooming. Perennials are easy and I love to see them.
What a fabulous show of day lilies – I love the variety of colours you have! Those temperatures are warm! We’ve been in the mid to low 60s so far in June with quite a lot of rain and winds. Oh well, I’m still not up to gardening so I guess it’s just as well the weather isn’t all that inviting! I’m also loving my audiobooks, so I hope you continue to enjoy your listens – at the right speed, that is:)). Have a great week, Anne.
Thank you Sarah. The flowers aren’t much work as they are perennials. I do a big weeding in the spring though I guess. I love the 60s weather. This week may only have a few isolated thunderstorms so I think some watering will be needed. I didn’t mow the grass either because of how hot it will be. The audiobook thing has happened twice in the last couple weeks and it is so tedious. I know why it happens. On Audible to get the percent complete I put the speed back to 1.0 so I can divide the minutes by total minutes -1 to get the % complete. I need to set it right back to the higher speed!
Your lilies are superb Anne! I hope you’ll sleep well tonight 😉
Thank you Sophie! The sleep has been a bit off. Either I’m anxious about the schedule or reading too late.
The flowers are looking great! My sleep has been off too. I stay up reading, but then realize I’m just not able to get comfortable and fall asleep, so I just keep reading.
Thank you Samantha. I’m so happy to have perennials which don’t require hardly any work after getting them in place the last couple years. For some odd reason your comments were going to spam but I approved them today. Sleeping is weird so it’s lucky I can sleep in the morning if I need to and don’t schedule our appts until the afternoon.
Thanks for my Lulu fix💜
Your garden is lovely! The yard must be looking great right now. Nice book haul, too.
Thank you Jonetta! I’m loving all the perennials. This week is going to be so hot I’ve been worried and watering a bit here at dinner time.
That is sad news about the swan eggs – hopefully there is still time for them to lay another clutch. It sounds like you are having wonderful weather, it’s taking its time warming up in the UK.
Your flowers are looking great, they are such beautiful colours.
Thank you Louise. I am so sad about the swans. I don’t know if they will lay more this year or not. This week is going to be too hot 100F about 38C for about 5 days. I love having my perennials which don’t require much work.
My daughter’s that way too- she’s been staying up half the night with summer vacation here lol. I’m sorry to hear about the swan eggs. 🙁
Skip Bo- wow it’s been a while!
Looks like you got some good new reads. Have a great Sunday!
Thanks Greg. I am so sad about the swans. They weren’t even at the nest. We love games and have lots. Have you heard of Krypto or Wahoo or Courtwhist – those are oldies from my childhood. We have the standards like Monopoly, Risk, Clue and newer ones my daughter picked.
I have not heard of those, but my grandma used to play Skip Bo with me. Nice memories. 🙂 I love a good game of Life…
We love the games! Especially the ones with math and strategy. Krypto was one I learned at school. I was a whiz at it and my daughter definitely inherited the math / science genes which I got from my Dad.
Ah, too bad about the swan babies. How fun that you and your daughter are enjoying Skipbo and puzzle. Nice job fitting in all those appointments, errands, and getting the last of the china washed up and put away. Your day lilies are looking lovely. I’ve got another month before those show up. Irises and peonies are just finishing up in my beds. LOL, I’ve accidentally listened to audios at 1x and realized when they seemed so slow to me. Nice book haul this week. I like that TJ London saga.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thank you Sophia! We are enjoying our games. I’m happy to have perennials which don’t need any work. I am so sad about the swans. 4 med appts last week, 3 this week and 4 again next week. UGH. I LOVE the TJ London books. I have the first 2 on audio. I hope she does more on audio.
Looks like a busy week! I am ready for my tiger lilies to start blooming! It is getting hot here, and muggy! Plus we’ve had some severe weather with tornado sirens going off. I wanted to sign up to read the new Karen Grey book, but I’ve just got too much booked already, so I had to pass. 🙁 Hope you have a good week!
Thanks Lisa. It’s hot here almost 100 for a few days. I’m overloaded too and am reviewing a little later than release week. August 23rd is a huge load of favorite author releases, so my whole summer is packed.
That is so sad about the swan eggs. One of the things I look forward to every year is the hatching of the baby duckies around here. I love seeing them swim all in a row behind their mom.
yes, I’m very sad. They raise some every year so it will happen again but I was watching this year and haven’t in the past.
I can completely understand staying up that long to read. lol
Sad about the swan babies.
The flowers are so pretty.
Thank you Mary. I can’t always stay up that late anymore, sometimes I am just falling asleep. I’m enjoying flowers without work since they are perennials. I’m very sad about the swans.
Great book haul, I hope you enjoy them all! Have a great week!
Thanks Cindy. I’ve already finished some of the books.
Love your day lilies. Mine bloom too, but in orange. So sad about the swan eggs. How can people do that? Lulu looks so cute in the picture together with you. Thank you for sharing it. Happy reading and have a great new week.
Thank you Vi! I like to get other colors especially pink or pale yellow ones. But I have some purplish ones too both light and dark. They’re no work once established. I don’t think people hurt the swans I think it was coyotes or something.
You’ve had such a busy week! My daylilies are not blooming yet but hopefully soon. Have a wonderful week ahead!
Thank you Jodie. It would be another month before they bloomed in Minnesota but here in NC spring and summer are earlier.
Those Daylilies look so pretty. That is sad with what with the swan egg.
Have a great week.
Thank you! I’m enjoying my flowers. and yes, I’m very sad about the swans.
That is so sad that there will not be any baby swans. Flowers are beautiful and Lulu is cute as usual!
Thank you Jinjer. I’m enjoying my flowers and Lulu is our best girl. I am very sad about the swans though.
Oh no! How sad about the swans!!
And ugh 100! We are getting a 100 degree day Wednesday and I am already crying over it. Lol. We will be spending the day inside that day. Wyatt and I are not good in the heat.
We are not good in the heat either. So Lulu will not be walking as much. At 8 or 9 at night it’s still 90! I am so sad about the swans.
Glad both you and your daughter seem to be doing well, Anne!
Lulu is adorable and love the flower pictures! Take care.
Nicci! I’m so happy to hear from you. I hope you are doing well. The flowers are easy because they are perennials. Lulu is our best girl always.
Look at all your beautiful flowers! Sorry to hear you didn’t sleep well. I had that problem this past week too.
Thank you Stephanie. I love having flowers. The sleep things seems to be all over the place. If I’m anxious or over tired or up too late reading, it’s always something. Luckily, I can sleep in the morning usually if I need more rest.
That’s sad news about the swans. 🙁 Your flowers are gorgeous! My husband and I are always on the look-out for games that two can play. I’ll have to look for Skip-Bo. We just recently bought one called Sequence. Stay cook this week!
Thank you Tanya. yes it’s very sad about the swans. I HIGHLY recommend Skip Bo; it’s easy and fun.
Your lilies look nice. It will be a while until we get blooms here – the buds haven’t even started. The last of my bulbs just died off. Last week was my son’s HS graduation, so I was busy preparing for family to visit, going to the event, and hosting a bbq. Lots of big emotions!
Thanks Jen. Hopefully this week will be easier for you. in MN it would be July for the daylilies too.
Yay for Rebels & Redcoats… Man of War will release at the end of June/early July. I cannot wait. We’ll have a tour mid July. Your flowers are lovely.
I love that series. I love it in audio. Ugh July is so full but I’ll have to find a space for it. Do you think she will ever do Turncoat on audio?
Yep, it is slated for next summer 🙂
Such lovely flowers and good looking freebies. Enjoy.
Thank you! I am just so happy to have the perennials blooming with almost no work from me now they are established.
Oh those poor swan babies! 😢 It has been blazing hot here as well. I think we’re finally on the backside of it but we’re still looking at 90s for a week or so.
Hope you got some good reading in this week!
Thank you Stephanie. I’m quite sad about the swans. It’s 99 again here today but the weekend is going to be 80s so that means I’ll mow the lawn again.
My mom was telling me how their daylilies are going crazy right now too.
We’re supposed to be in the high 90s today and tomorrow and my husband is on call at the hospital. I’m settling in for a weekend of reading, blogging, and staying in the AC.
Enjoy your week!
Thanks Jen. Yes it is supposed to be 99 today but 80s with a north wind this weekend so maybe I can get to some yard work and walking with Lulu . I’m definitely staying inside today.
